    Meet our Managing Director

    Hi there!

I’m Jonathan Wigley, the founder of SkillsLink. I established SkillsLink in 2012 after a 20-year international career in environmental education. I have a Diploma in Nature Conservation (1997) from UNISA and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Education (2006, passed Cum laude) from Rhodes University.

I’ve been involved in the field of occupational education and training since its early days in the mid-1990s. I was part of the Nature Conservation Standards Generating Body (SGB) under the then THETA (now CATHSSETA) and served as a member of the Community of Expert Practitioners (CEP) under the QCTO and ETDPSETA for developing the new Occupational Certificate: Learning and Development Practitioner.

I’m excited to engage with you, whether you’re a student or a fellow ETD Practitioner from any sector, as we continue to grow SkillsLink together. Be sure to check out the Associate/Affiliate Link on the main menu to explore your earning potential.

I hope you have a wonderful day, and you can read more about how and why I established SkillsLink to the right.

    Warm regards,
    Jonathan Wigley

Jonathan Wigley | Founder and Lead Instructional Designer at SkillsLink

At SkillsLink, my focus is on delivering instructional design and eLearning solutions tailored to the needs of South Africa’s occupational education sector. Drawing on my extensive experience, I’ve led the creation of accreditation-ready materials and online courses that are both engaging and effective. Our recent accolade, the Best Product or Service Overview Video for the Eco Ranger Skills Programme, attests to our commitment to elevating training standards.

With a background in environmental education and nature conservation, I’ve honed my skills in corporate training strategy and curriculum development. My hands-on approach in research and development has steered SkillsLink to become a respected name in instructional design. We are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge training materials that empower learners to achieve their full potential in the workplace and beyond.

SkillsLink’s approach to education is centered on fostering critical thinking, leadership, and decision-making skills in learners. Our courses aim to navigate the complex social, economic, and political structures of today’s world, promoting inclusive and sustainable development. We are committed to empowering vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and rural communities, by providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their respective fields (Smith, 2020; Jones, 2019).

I am very adventurous and love meeting new cultures across the world, like this video of my holiday with my then girlfriend, Julia, as we mountain biked over 700km across the Himalayas in India in 2012, including the world’s highest navigable pass. You can watch it below. You won’t see much of me because I am behind the camera.
